Toy Bricks is a game of bounce and catch. A wall of toy bricks hangs at the top of the field. You slide a paddle along the bottom to keep a ball in play, and every time the ball hits a brick, the brick breaks. Break them all to clear the wall. You have three balls.
How to play
The paddle moves along the bottom edge. The ball starts resting on it.
- On a phone or tablet: slide your finger along the field to move the paddle. Tap the field, or press the Launch button, to send the ball off. The big arrow buttons also move the paddle.
- On a computer: move the mouse, or press the left and right arrow keys (A and D work as well). Space or a click launches the ball.
Catch the ball with the paddle and it bounces back up. Where it lands on the paddle decides which way it goes: a hit near the middle sends it fairly straight, and a hit near the edge sends it off at a slant.
If the ball goes past the paddle, you lose a ball. When all three are gone, the game is over. When the last brick breaks, the wall is cleared.
Some bricks look cracked and need two hits. On the hardest level, there are also gray blocks with a cross on them. These never break, so you must go around them.
The levels
Each level has several wall designs, and one is chosen at random each time you start.
- Easy: a wide paddle, a slow ball, and four rows of bricks.
- Medium: a normal paddle and ball, and a wall of up to six rows.
- Hard: a faster ball and a narrower paddle. Some of the bricks are tough ones that need two hits.
- Expert: the fastest ball, the narrowest paddle, tough bricks and gray blocks that never break. The wall can be seven or eight rows deep.
Today's game
There is a Medium game each day, with the wall laid out the same way for everyone. Leave in the middle, and your wall is kept for later.
Tips
- Keep your eyes on the ball, not on the paddle. Move to where the ball is going to land, and be there early.
- Use the edge of the paddle on purpose. A slanted shot is how you get into the corners of the wall.
- Dig a tunnel. If you break a column of bricks at the side, the ball can slip behind the wall and bounce around up there, clearing bricks without your help.
- When only a few bricks are left, be patient. Aim for the last ones with the edge of the paddle, rather than hoping the ball finds them.
- On Hard and Expert, break the cracked bricks when the ball is passing anyway. Do not chase them if it means missing the ball.
- Leave blocks alone. They cannot be broken, so any time spent aiming at one is wasted.
- Staying in the middle of the field between shots is a good habit. From the middle, you can reach either side in time.
