Hedgehog Run is a one-button running game. A hedgehog trots along a garden path on its own, and your only job is to jump at the right moment. Flower pots, rocks and holes come along, and you are scored by how far you run, in metres.
How to play
You do not steer. The hedgehog runs by itself. To jump:
- On a phone or tablet: tap the field, or press the big Jump button.
- On a computer: press Space, the up arrow or W, or click the field.
A quick tap is a small hop. Hold the tap for longer and the hedgehog jumps higher. It is highest in the middle of the jump, so you do not need to hold for the whole time.
Jump over the flower pots and the rocks, and over any holes in the path. Touching a pot or a rock, or falling in a hole, costs one heart. When all your hearts are gone, the run is over.
Star coins are floating along the way. Collect them for a bonus, and every 20 coins give back a heart you have lost. The run is shown with your distance, your coins and your best distance for that level.
The path speeds up as you go, up to a limit that depends on the level.
The levels
The level changes the speed, how high you jump, which obstacles come, and how many hearts you have.
- Easy: a slow and floaty run with only pots and rocks. You start with 5 hearts.
- Medium: a faster run, with holes in the path as well. You have 3 hearts.
- Hard: faster again, with taller pots, wider holes and sometimes two obstacles in a row. You have 3 hearts.
- Expert: very fast, with tall pots, wide holes and pairs of obstacles more often. You have only 2 hearts.
Holes appear from Medium on. On Easy the path is clear of them.
Today's game
There is a Medium run each day, where the obstacles come in the same order for everyone. If you leave in the middle, the run is saved on your device.
Tips
- Jump a little early. The hedgehog is highest in the middle of the jump, and that is where you want the obstacle to be.
- Do not hold the jump longer than you need to. A tall pot needs a long hold, but a small rock only needs a quick tap.
- When two obstacles come close together, think of them as one. Start early and hold for a high jump, so the hedgehog stays in the air over both.
- Look ahead of the hedgehog, not at it. The next obstacle is what matters, and you will see it sooner by looking to the right.
- Wide holes need a long jump, so start your jump earlier than you do for a pot. A short hop will land you in the hole.
- Collect coins when it is safe to. Every twenty give a heart back, which can keep a long run alive.
- Take a breath between runs. The pace gets quick after a minute or two, and a short rest keeps your timing sharp.
