Soap Bubbles is an aiming game. A shooter at the bottom fires colored bubbles at a cluster hanging from the top. Match three or more of one color and they pop. Clear the whole cluster before it reaches the red line at the bottom.
How to play
Aim the shooter, and a dotted line shows where the bubble will go.
- On a phone or tablet: press and drag your finger to aim, and lift it to shoot.
- On a computer: move the mouse to aim and click to shoot. The left and right arrow keys also aim, and Space fires.
The bubble flies in a straight line and sticks where it lands. You can bounce a shot off the side walls to reach bubbles that are hidden behind others.
If your bubble touches two or more bubbles of the same color and makes a group of three or more, the whole group pops. Any bubbles that are left hanging from nothing drop away with them.
A shot that pops nothing is a miss. After enough misses, a new row pushes down from the top. If the cluster reaches the red line, the game is over.
You hold the next bubble beside the shooter. Tap that small bubble, press S, or use the Swap button to change which one you shoot.
The levels
- Easy: 4 colors, 5 starting rows, and a new row only after 8 misses.
- Medium: 5 colors, 7 starting rows, and a new row after 5 misses.
- Hard: 6 colors, 8 starting rows, and a new row after 5 misses.
- Expert: 6 colors, 9 starting rows, and a new row after every 4 misses.
In the stored test run, a computer player whose aim wobbled a little cleared 100 of 100 Easy boards, 94 of 100 Medium, 51 of 100 Hard and 10 of 100 Expert. So Expert is meant to be a real challenge.
Today's game
Each day there is one Medium board, the same for everyone. If you leave, your game is saved on this device.
Tips
- Look for the color that appears most near the bottom of the cluster. Popping low bubbles gives you the most room.
- Aim for bubbles that hold up a lot of others. When one pops, everything hanging from it falls, and each fallen bubble scores 20 points against 10 for a popped one.
- Use the walls. A bounce lets you reach the gaps at the side of the cluster that you cannot hit directly.
- Use the swap. If your current bubble has no match anywhere, swap to the other one before you shoot a miss.
- Remember how many misses you can afford. The next row down is the real danger, so avoid wasting shots on hard-to-reach spots.
- Fewer colors are easier. On higher levels, try to remove a color completely, and the board becomes simpler.
- Take a little time to aim. There is no timer, and a good shot is worth more than a fast one.
Questions
What is the red line? It is the bottom of the play area. If the bubbles touch it, the game ends.
Why did a new row appear? You used up the misses the level allows. Shots that pop nothing are counted, and when the count is reached a new row comes down. The number depends on the level.
What does the dotted line show? The path your bubble will take, including bounces off the walls.
How do I change the bubble I shoot? Tap the small bubble beside the shooter, press S, or press Swap.
